| In recent years, with the government’s vigorous support and continuous promotion of professional farmer cooperatives,China’s farmer professional cooperatives have become an important agricultural modernization management organization form that improves farmers’ economic income, accelerates rural economic development, and promotes the progress of the agricultural industry. The leading bodies of professional cooperatives for Chinese farmers are diverse, and the leading cooperatives of enterprises are an important part.According to the statistics of farmer professional cooperatives in 2017,the cooperatives led by enterprises accounted for 13.8% of the total number of cooperatives, ranking second among all types of cooperatives. While the enterprise-led cooperatives have achieved remarkable results, there are also phenomena such as "low participation of farmers, poor participation enthusiasm, and even withdrawal from cooperatives",which have hindered the development of cooperatives. Therefore, improving the participation of farmers in the enterprise-led cooperatives is an urgent need to give full play to the advantages of enterprise-led cooperatives. This study uses the theory of motivation,"embedded theory" and public participation theory as the theoretical guidance.By combing domestic and foreign research literature such as farmer professional cooperatives,enterprise-led cooperatives, and farmers’ participation behavior, this study uses 371 enterprises in 25 counties of Shaanxi Province The farmer household survey data in the cooperative uses theoretical and empirical analysis on the "behavioral motivation","behavioral decision",and "behavioral outcome" of farmers’ participation in enterprise-led cooperatives using logistic regression analysis, factor analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis.Analyze and make relevant suggestions based on the empirical results. The research results show that:(1)At this stage, the heterogeneity of farmers ’households is prominent, which also leads to differences in the motivation of farmers’ participation in cooperatives. It is manifested in the following aspects: 1)Among the 340 effective survey samples, the proportion of farmers participating in the enterprise-led cooperatives due to intrinsic motivation is higher than 50%,and more than the farmers participating in the enterprise-owned cooperatives due to external motivation;2)The proportion of farmers participating in enterprise-led cooperatives due to multiple motivations is higher than 50%,more than the number of farmers participating in enterprise-led cooperatives due to a singlemotivation;3)The number of farmers participating in enterprise-led cooperatives is the highest 4)The four aspects of individual characteristics, family characteristics, cultivated land characteristics, and basic cognition of enterprise-led cooperatives have a significant impact on the formation of farmers’ participation motivation.(2)The personal characteristics of farmers ’ "autonomous factors" and the characteristics of the enterprise-led cooperatives have a significant positive impact on the behavioral decisions of farmers’ participation in enterprise-owned cooperatives. The village characteristics and social capital in the "embedded factors" have a positive impact on the participation of farmers The behavioral decision-making of the cooperatives has a significant positive impact, while the government influence in the "embedded factors" has not affected the farmers.(3)The main influencing factors of the behavioral results of farmers’ participation are composed of "participating subject","participating object" and "participating environment".The final empirical results are: 1)The "individual achievement" part of the "participating subject" has a significant positive impact on the results of farmer participation behavior, while the "individual subject" and "agricultural division of labor" part of the "participating subject" have no impact.2)The "participation object" has a significant positive impact on the results of farmer participation;3)The "village environment" and "social capital" in the "participation environment" have a significant positive impact on the results of farmer participation. The existence of multiple variables in the "participating subject" did not have a significant impact, and almost all variables in the "participating object" and "participating environment" had a significant impact. It can be seen that the behavioral results of farmers’ participation in enterprise-led cooperatives are affected by most of the factors in the participating objects and the participating environment, and by some factors in the main participants. This shows that the efforts of individual farmers are positive, but they have limitations. If we want to improve the final effect of farmers’ participation in enterprise-led cooperatives, the focus should be on the guidance of external forces such as cooperatives, enterprises, and governments. |
