Abstract/Summary:
This paper addresses the current state of mental health care in rural Minnesota. Rural health disparities are discussed. Information on access to care and utilization of mental health services in Minnesota is provided and compared across the country. Finally, a general logic model using three program elements is provided. By building peer advocate networks, training primary care providers in behavioral health, and implementing telemedicine services, rural Minnesota can begin to address the mental health needs in their community.
