The study, by choosing 447 rural senior students and 183 urban ones as the objects,using Adolescence Life Events Scale(ALES), Mental Health Tese(MHT), Traite Coping Style Questionaire(TCSQ), Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS)as measuring tools and conductiving statistical analysis by mean of SPSS13.0 for windows. The results showed that:1. The scores of solitary tendency, phobia and physical state in urban students were significantly lower than those in rural students. The rural students have more stress in leaning, be-punished and adopting. And there were no significant difference between rural and urban senior students about coping style and social support.2. Among rural senior students, female have poor mental health than that of male, especially in the scores of study anxiety and phobia. There were no difference between only-child students and multi-child students. Grade analysis showed that the scores of anxiety in personal relationship, physical state , impulsive tendency, solitary tendency and fear in senior grade one were higher than those in grade three .Whats more , the scores of solitary tendency in grade one were higher than those in grade two.3. Mainly life events that disturb rural senior students are study stress , personal relationship, punishment and health adaption etc. Among them,personal relationship and study stress exert the largest influence on mental health. The scores ofpunishment, health adaption and other respects in male were significantly higher than those female.Only-child students reported more punishment and other state than that of multi-child students.with respect to personal relationship and health adaption , senior students in grade one score higher than grade two and grade three.4. Girls showed significantly higher scores in social support,utilization degree and positive coping style than boys.only-child students of rural senior school score higher than that of multi-child students in punishment and other state,but the subjective support is lower.Compared with grade two and grade three students,the grade one students achieved less subjective support and used more negative but not...
