Abstract/Summary:
This study explored the attitudes towards environmental issues expressed by Chinese university students. The study was a qualitative analysis that was informed by grounded theory and conducted through nine open-ended group interviews. During the data collection and analysis process, I considered the culture, traditional values and historical background of China and reflected on how this affected the target group's environmental views. This research found that these young people are aware of the environmental problems in China and the world; they are concerned about environmental damage especially in terms of threats to health and the economy; and they are searching for a balance between environmental protection and economic development However, they remain unsure at this point about the best way for China to address these issues. Their chosen path, once determined, will be affected by their cultural heritage.;Keywords: Chinese University Students, Environmental Attitudes, Traditional Values, Cultural Awareness, Grounded Theory...
