Abstract/Summary:
This study explored the relationship between hope and well-being in college students (n=320) at a large Midwestern university. Examining concurrent validity of trait hope, academic hope, and student well-being, the author provided evidence for the validity of the Inventory on Learning Climate and Student Well-Being (ILCSWB). Trait hope (Adult Trait Hope Scale (ATHS)) correlated significantly to total scores on the ILCSWB. Additional significant correlations existed between Trait hope and several domains of the ILCSWB. Academic hope (Academic Hope Scale (AHS)) correlated significantly to total scores on the ILCSWB. Additional significant correlations existed between AHS total scores and several domains of the ILCSWB. Implications of these findings on well-being and life satisfaction of college students is explored.
