Abstract/Summary:
This project focuses on the recruiting practices in the Canadian Forces Primary Reserve in British Columbia. It analyzed whether there were barriers impeding effective recruiting within the organization. The opportunity to conduct research presented itself on the cusp of rapid transformation and restructuring within the military. New funding has become available, a new organizational template is being introduced, and recruiting is now a main effort for the military. Applicants, recruiters, and ultimately the entire Reserve community stand to benefit from a streamlining of the current recruitment process.;The research took place at the provincial level, examining the practices of different recruiters. Using both a Delphi style and traditional Focus Group model, recruiters were given an opportunity to voice their concerns and their successes, to help develop solutions for the entire community. Subsequently, the recommendations made involve knowledge sharing practices, communications issues and the responsibilities of the organizational leadership.
