Abstract/Summary:
The extensive ethylene and small olefin economy, which largely depends on petroleum derived monomers, has revolutionized the modern world. Advances in the utilization of hydrocarbon feedstocks continue to be of both practical and fundamental scientific importance. In order to design more efficient hydrocarbon conversion catalysts, the synthesis of novel perfluoroalkylphosphine (PFAP) pincer ligand-iridium complexes, unique because of their electron withdrawing nature and steric bulk, is presented. The potential for using quinones as hydrogen acceptors has been examined both with experiments and computational studies.
