Abstract/Summary:
This thesis is an examination of the Battle of Leyte Gulf, the largest naval battle of World War II. In October of 1944, American naval forces under the command of Admiral William F. Halsey and Vice Admiral Thomas Kinkaid defeated the forces of the Imperial Japanese Navy. This study presents a view 'from the middle', analyzing the conflict from the perspectives of junior officers in the United States Navy.
