Abstract/Summary:
Currently, the housing industry relies on the individual's ability to interpret city bylaws and building code provisions for the preparation of the building/development permit application and its approval. In addition, approving authorities manually check the submitted drawings. Drawings that violate the city bylaws are rejected, leading to project delays and cost over runs. Sales representatives also have difficulty in accommodating changes requested by the house owner, since, these changes have to be communicated again with the architect and the city officers; currently, this process is performed manually.; This research is involved in the development of an Integrated System with CAD (ISCAD) for the automation of the development permit approval process for a new house. The ISCAD assists in making decisions with respect to the applicable city bylaws based on the characteristics of the project and also checks for compliance of the site plan drawing with the city bylaws.
