Abstract/Summary:
A labor relations specialist oversees all relevant issues pertaining to Management/Union issues, and participates in the grievance procedure in order to address disputes between Labor and Management.;The Syracuse Teachers Association sponsored my practicum. The principle site of the practicum was the office of the Syracuse Teachers Association in Syracuse, New York.;This is a report of a 301.5-hour practicum spent with the Syracuse Teachers Association in Syracuse, New York from February 18, 2004 to May 7, 2004.;I participated in contract negotiations, drafted contract language, interviewed union members on problems they encountered, attended grievance meetings such as disciplinary/discharge meetings, wrote draft reports, letters, and resolution of grievances, and attended an arbitration hearing.
