On Work Avoidance: A Comprehensive Exploration of First World Time Mismanagement

My project exhibition ON WORK AVOIDANCE: A Comprehensive Exploration of First World Time Mismanagement is a museum style installation comprised of drawings, paintings, dioramas, sculpture, video and an accompanying audio tour.;The museum showcases my own extensive research, fantasizing, and first hand experience on the subject of procrastination. The premise of the entire installation is that the exhibition itself was done in the attempt to avoid working on my thesis. By acknowledging this activity, I have indirectly completed my thesis.;The show focuses on labor-intensive diversions and misdirected energy as opposed to procrastination by simply doing nothing. The concept of "procrastitivity," doing work to avoid work, is evident in each piece. Because the methods on display are at least semi-autobiographical, each exhibit consists of self-portraiture and cartoonish stylization. I use acrylic paint on a variety of surfaces, including paper and polymer clay sculpture, wood, and illustration board.
