It is essential that teachers and parents work together and form a partnership to ensure that children become successful readers. This study focuses on the process, implementation, and benefits of creating a parent involvement program in a second grade classroom. Reading workshops were designed to instruct parents on strategies that could be used at home to support their child's reading. As active participants in the reading workshops, parents became empowered to help their children become competent readers. The teacher and parents who participated in the reading workshops formed a partnership based on trust, which contributed to the success of the reading workshops and reading competence of the students.
