Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Computer Assisted Instruction on the achievement levels of secondary biology students. The control group for this research was given no study time on computers while the treatment group was given time each week to study and review with computer tutorial programs. The study involved subjects from the first semester general biology class of 1993 as the control group. The treatment group was the first semester general biology class of 1994. All assignments were kept constant from one year to the next for this study. Statistical data were obtained through a series of chapter tests and treated with a T-Test for Independent Samples to compare the average mean scores of both groups. The data compiled at the end of the study indicated that Computer Assisted Instruction did not increase the achievement levels of the students in the treatment group.
