| The purpose of the study was to establish the psychometric properties of the Level of Knowledge Use Survey (LOKUS) questionnaire. The LOKUS intends to measure the behavior of six types of stakeholders regarding the use of new knowledge about technology for individuals with disabilities. It measures ten levels of knowledge use and six behavior categories within each level.;This study addressed research related to augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and evaluated LOKUS' content validity, test-retest reliability, and responsiveness to change using 69 participants who took a paper-and-pencil test or a web-based survey. Descriptive statistics and nonparametric tests were used for data analysis.;Excellent test-retest reliability was established for levels and categories. For levels, responsiveness to change was excellent. Levels were developmental. Paper-and-pencil and web-based methods showed very similar results. Further investigation is needed regarding content validity and study of categories. Future research is recommended in non-AAC related areas. |
