Application of the process variability reduction methodology on the C-17 Economic Order Quantity process

The current Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) Process applied in the manufacturing of the C17 at Boeing has no standardized measuring system. Improvement of the process will reduce the damage of quality related costs of correcting errors and will avoid unnecessary repetition.; A through review and analysis of the EOQ projects submitted to Manufacturing Estimating during 1996--1997 will be used to establish a measure of performance.; A good Quality Assurance Program will focus on improvement of the Economic Order Quantity process by utilizing Process Variability Reduction (PVR) tools and techniques; applying PVR in production and production-related processes will deliver a high quality product and achieve stable and capable processes. The future of the Airlift and Tanker Program will in large depend on its Quality Assurance Program.
