Abstract/Summary:
Total quality management is an integrated approach to organizational leadership which focuses on delighting customers by delivering exceptional products. The paradigm of total quality is rooted in continuous improvement. No manufacturer should be content to stay where it is, regardless how successful the production process. Total quality is an expression of the need for continuous improvement. In recent years, much attention has been given to reengineering, streamlining processes, and building organizations which are better suited to meet changing manufacturing needs. Companies are seeking and using many different approaches in their attempts to drastically cut costs, reduce lead times, and increase their customer base. An organized process to innovate and continuously improve work systems, based on the use of problem-solving tools, leadership, effective performance review, work cells, statistical data, and design for manufacturing assembly is presented herein. How each subject is crucial to implementing world class manufacturing is also presented.
