In my paintings I incorporate text and physical damage to the surface to draw a parallel to the pressures felt during the two years in a Master of Fine Art program. Each painting is an exploration in translating specific social interactions. The words and phrases are excerpts from conversations with peers, professors and visiting artists.;The materials that I employ are limited to wood, paper, graphite, white paint, and acrylic medium. Layering allows for investigation of frustration, anger, humor and rebellion. These emotions arise from the contradicting expectations I find myself contemplating. |
