In recent years,centerless lathe as an important precise machining equipment has been widely used.Hollow spindle unit is the core part of the centerless lathe,so its mechanical properties have a big effect on the machining efficiency and quality in machining process.In this paper,it is studied the hollow spindle unit,which is the core parts of the centerless lathe,about its static and dynamic characteristics and its vibration condition during the machining process.Besides,demonstrate the correctness of theoretical analyses by experiments.The results can provide reference for design,improving performance and structure optimization of hollow spindle unit.Specific works are as follows:(1)Introduce the research status,basic compositions,working principle and the points must pay attention to in the analyses and researches of centerless lathe.It is also briefly introduced its working procedure.(2)It is fitted out of the titanium alloy cutting force empirical formula by measuring the main motor current.It is verified that the empirical formula has actually guided significance in the machining process.Figure up the torsional rigidity through empirical formula.It has a preliminary understanding of the performance of the hollow spindle unit.(3)Analyse the modal and harmonic response of the hollow spindle in ANSYS.Then,I get the natural frequency,vibration models of any orders,and the amplitude-frequency curves on some key points of the hollow spindle unit.It can find the optimum span of the hollow spindle unit by discussing the relationship between thedifferent positions of the front bearing and the dynamic characteristics of the spindle.(4)Build the flexible body of the hollow spindle unit,and do the kinematics simulation during the process of machining in ADAMS.Then it can get some displacement curves of some key points on the hollow spindle unit.What's more,it can also get data through measure the acceleration values by acceleration sensors during the real machining process and the displacement curves of some key points by handling those data in MATLAB.At last,it verified the correctness of the simulation by comparing the curves which are gotten in two kinds of ways.
