Coal is the main energy to promote China's economic development, but coal consumption also causes a series of problems such as environmental pollution, atmospheric haze, ecological damage, etc. Therefore,it is necessary to study the relationship between coal consumption and economic growth. The article uses the data from 1999 to 2017 of coal consumption and GDP of Chinese whole country, four regions and 30 provinces to discuss the decoupling of coal consumption and economic growth, the influencing factors of decoupling of coal consumption and economic growth, and its spatial spillover. The results show that:(1)By building Tapio decoupling elastic model between coal consumption and economic growth, and distinguishing the decoupling situation of Chinese whole country, four regions and 30 provinces between the coal consumption and economic growth. The results show that: from 2000 to 2017 the decoupling between the coal consumption and economic growth of Chinese whole country is mostly in a relative decoupling state. The eastern region is in the best decoupling state, and the provinces and cities in the absolute decoupling state are gradually increasing.(2)The spatial distribution characteristics of decoupling situation between coal consumption and economic growth in China are drawn by using geographic information system(GIS).The results show that the decoupling situation between coal consumption and economic growth in China has gradually improved during the research period.(3)Using Moran's I index to test the spatial correlation of decoupling between China's coal consumption and economic growth, the results show that the spatial correlation of decoupling coefficient between China's coal consumption and economic growth is positive and negative, the global Moran's I index has been increasing in recent five years, and there is obvious significance, indicating that there is a spatial correlation between decoupling between China's coal consumption and economic growth.(4)Using SDM analyzes the influencing factors of decoupling between coal consumption and economic growth in China, decomposes the spatial effects of each factor, and further analyzes the influence of different factors on direct effect, indirect effect and overall effect of decoupling between coal consumption and economic growth.Theresults show that: first, economic development, technological progress, environment regulation can promote the decoupling of coal consumption and economic growth in the region, while urbanization level, coal consumption intensity and industrial structure can inhibit the decoupling of coal consumption and economic growth in the region.Second, the spatial spillover effect of industrial structure, urbanization level and technological progress is significant, which shows that the changes of these three factors will not only affect the decoupling of coal consumption and economic growth in this region, but also radiate to the surrounding areas through the spatial transmission mechanism.Third,to improve the level of economic growth and optimize the industrial structure is an effective way to promote the decoupling of coal consumption and economic growth. Finally, according to the results of empirical research, this paper summarizes the whole paper and puts forward relevant policies and suggestions from four aspects:adjusting the industrial structure, developing non coal industry, accelerating the development of new energy technology, optimizing the industrial structure, increasing the expenditure of scientific research and development, improving the efficiency of coal utilization, strengthening environmental regulation and reducing the consumption of coal and carbon.
