With the increase of the time and grinding amount,the surface of profile grinding wheel will passivate,wear and break during the profile grinding process,which will lead to problems such as reduction of workpiece contour processing accuracy,processing efficiency and surface quality.The improvement of the dressing quality can improve the shape accuracy and grinding performance of the grinding wheel,and it is of great significance to ensure the quality of grinding.In order to improve the dressing quality of curved grinding wheels,the research contents and results have been done as follows:1.Based on the orthogonal rotating roller dressing method and the characteristics of profile grinding wheels,an orthogonal rotating diamond roller dresser was designed.Then,the roundness error of the theoretical profile grinding wheel contour was mathematically modeled and analyzed.Finally,the dressing conditions to ensure the shape accuracy of the profile grinding wheel were obtained.2.The formation mechanism of the profile grinding wheel surface by using the orthogonal rotating roller dressing method was analyzed and the theoretical formulas of the height of grain protrusion of the wheel surface and the interference angle were derived respectively,which provided a theoretical basis for analyzing the wheel surface topography features and selecting the dressing parameters of this method.3.Experimental study of the dressing force by using the orthogonal fixed diamond roller dresser was performed,revealing the effects of the dressing lead,the line speed of the wheel,and the dressing depth on the dressing force.Based on the experimental data,a dressing force regression model of this dressing method was obtained,which provided guidance for improving dressing parameters to reduce the dresser deformation.4.Experimental study of the dressing force by using the orthogonal rotating diamond roller dresser was performed,revealing the effects of the dressing lead,the line speed of the wheel,the dressing depth,and the ratio of dressing wheel linear speed to grinding wheel linear speed on the surface topography and grinding performance of grinding wheels.Two sets of dressing parameter combinations that improved the sharpness and the grinding performance of the grinding wheel were obtained respectively,which provided a reference for the selection of dressing process parameters when using the orthogonal rotating diamond roller dressing method to dress white corundum wheels.
