Research On The Application Of Narrative Illustration In Chinese Traditional Food Packaging Design

As a form of "story-telling" design,narrative illustration can externalize the complete story logic through specific visual elements and narrative angles,and is relatively independent.Narrative illustration usually can record,explain or reproduce the story scenes through the intuitive and concrete visual design,supplement the expressive space of language and enhance the expressive power of visual stories.Narrative illustration in traditional Chinese food packaging design has a collection of human and world scenes,is a visual schema rich in humanistic thoughts,emotions and spirits.The paper sorts out the relevant definitions of "narrative illustration" in existing research,reviews the origin and evolution of the combination of narrative illustration and traditional Chinese food packaging design in different periods,and explores the reasons of narrative illustration which has been surviving in traditional Chinese food packaging design.It also demonstrates the various possibilities of narrative illustration in the change and extension of traditional Chinese food packaging design.By analyzing the design cases of narrative illustration in contemporary Chinese traditional food packaging design,the paper presents a multifaceted interpretation of the content and form of narrative illustration in traditional Chinese food packaging design with the aim of clarifying the emotional factors behind people’s deep love of narration of traditional cultural stories through the appearance of visual forms,and looking at the prospective integration and development of narrative illustration and Chinese traditional food packaging design from the perspective of perpetuating traditional cultural values.The innovation of the thesis is to connect the narrative illustration of traditional Chinese food packaging design with the social phenomenons and cultural meanings behind the "narration",from the narrative perspective of narrative illustration to analyze the true feelings projected through narrative illustration in the current social environment,and to put forward reasonable suggestions on how to activate traditional cultural values through design power in traditional Chinese food packaging design and narrative illustration in the future.
