Increasing the energy of gunpowder by adding high-energy materials is one of its important development approaches.1,2,3,4-Butanetetraol tetranitrate(ETN)is used as one of the few positive oxygen balance explosives in the propellant,which can increase the energy of the propellant.Whether it can improve the performance of the propellant needs to be further explored and studied.On the basis of the traditional single-base propellant formula,through theoretical analysis,the compatibility of several raw materials for gunpowder and ETN is tested experimentally,and the formula of the propellant that the gunpowder power meets certain requirements and the explosion temperature is relatively stable is calculated by programming.The preparation process of ETN-containing single-base propellant was determined by referring to the preparation process of single-base propellant.The mechanical properties of the propellant samples under low temperature(-40?),normal temperature(20?)and high temperature(50?)were studied by simply supported beam impact testing machine,material testing machine and scanning electron microscope.The results show that the kneading time,solvent ratio of alcohol and ketone,different ETN contents(0%,3%,6%and 9%),and different NQ contents(0%,3%,6%and 9%)all affect the mechanical properties of the propellant.performance has an impact.The impact strength and compressive strength of the propellant samples kneaded for 2h are stronger than those of 1h kneading.The mechanical properties are better;the addition of ETN can improve the impact resistance of the propellant and with the increase of its content,the impact strength increases;the addition of NQ reduces the mechanical properties of the propellant and with the increase of its content,the impact resistance and compression resistance is reduced.The prepared propellant samples were thermally analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)and thermogravimetry(TG).The thermal decomposition peak temperature of the single-base propellant decreases slightly,and the thermal stability slightly deteriorated;among the four prepared propellants with different NQ contents,with the increase of NQ content,the thermal decomposition temperature of the ETN-containing single-base propellant increases,Enhanced thermal stability.The comprehensive research results show that ETN has good compatibility with NC.Adding it to the single-base propellant will make the stability of the propellant slightly worse,but the impact strength and compressive strength of the single-base propellant containing ETN can still meet the requirements.Propellant requirements.The overall effect of adding ETN to the single-base propellant is good,so ETN can be added to the single-base propellant as a high-energy additive to improve the performance of the propellant while increasing the energy.The optimal propellant formula composition obtained by research is:NC90%,ETN6%,NQ3%,C21%.The power of the propellant prepared according to this formula is 1055 k J/kg,the explosion temperature is 3124 k,and the low temperature impact strength reaches 17.75 k J·m-2.
