Exploration On The Design And Application Of Dai Handmade Paper ——Taking Xishuangbanna "Manzhao Dai Paper" As An Example

Traditional handicraft skills are treasures left by our ancestors,but in modern times,especially after the Industrial Revolution,the development of society is not friendly to traditional handicraft skills,and is facing the crisis of disappearing.In recent years,under the national cultural power policy,traditional culture,especially intangible cultural heritage,has been attached great importance,and the inheritance and protection of intangible cultural heritage has been strengthened,and traditional handicrafts have ushered in new opportunities.The handmade papermaking skills of the Dai people have been selected into the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage traditional handicraft skills list.The handmade papermaking of the Dai people is currently facing a crisis of skill inheritance.Xishuangbanna Manzhao Dai paper is its representative,with weak brand awareness,incomplete visual image,insufficient Dai characteristics,relatively remote location,and insufficient publicity to the outside world.Therefore,the Dai handmade papermaking urgently needs the intervention of design.Based on the field survey in Yunnan Dai handmade papermaking villages and the relevant information recorded in the detailed interviews with the inheritors of Dai handmade papermaking in Manzhao Village,Xishuangbanna,as well as extensive review of the literature and materials related to the history,culture,traditional skills of the Dai people and papermaking of the Dai people,in the existing literature On the basis of combining case analysis method,comparative study method and other research methods,as well as related theories of art design and intangible cultural heritage,the application and exploration of the design of Dai handmade paper in the context of visual design.The research starts from the historical and cultural background of Dai handmade paper,through the analysis of the current situation of Dai paper in Manzhao,to find out the practical problems of inheritance and protection of Dai handmade paper in modern society,and to explore the uniqueness and design language of Dai handmade papermaking skills.This paper analyzes the relationship between the Dai handmade papermaking and the application of design,combined with domestic and foreign classic case evidence and comparative research,summarizes the design principles and design methods of the Dai handmade papermaking,puts forward the design strategy of the Manzhao Dai paper in Xishuangbanna,and designs the cultural elements of the Dai handmade papermaking.Extract and creatively derive design ideas.Based on the survey data,the design of Dai paper is positioned and analyzed,and three design directions,namely paper use,paper beauty,and paper,are deduced to reflect the handmade papermaking of the Dai people.Show the visual and cultural genes of Dai paper skills and Dai paper culture,explore the brand building and dissemination of Xishuangbanna Manzhao Dai paper,and then get some inspiration on the basis of its artistic transformation and application exploration.It is hoped that the inspiration from the exploration of the design and application of handmade papermaking by the Dai people can provide a reference method for the design system of handmade papermaking and other traditional techniques that are still alive,so that traditional handicraft techniques and their materialized results can become sustainable design culture,and let the traditional Craftsmanship "lives".
