Lightning is a strong discharge phenomenon in the atmosphere,which will endanger the personal safety of human beings.At the same time,it will also cause huge damage to power and electronic equipment,which in turn will cause immeasurable damage in the core fields of national lifespans such as aerospace,power grids and telecommunications.Lightning locating is an important method to get the basic parameters of lightning,and it is also the key technology in lightning protection engineering.How to determine the exact location of the lightning spot in a very short period of time is the key to the observation of the location of lightning and lightning damage.Lightning locating system(LLS)is roughly composed of the following modules: probe module for lightning induction data acquisition,embedded system module for data upload,processing and analysis,and lightning information display module.The main control system is the core part of the embedded system module,which can guarantee the normal operation of the entire embedded system,update and upgrade the software program and ensure the cooperation of other modules and the data exchange and transmission among the modules.The dual-core embedded processor OMAPL138 provided by Texas Instruments(TI)is employed in the control modules of the lighting locating system reffered in this paper.Firstly,the requirements of software development are clarified through analyzing the hardware structure and charecteristics of LLS.Then,the host software development environment and embedded Linux operating system are set up according to the special startup sequence and development mode of OMAPL138.In addition,a high-speed and efficient dual-core communication method,which is suitable for the data transmission in the LLS,is designed and implemented.Finally,the software modules for ARM are developed and tested.Through the above work,this article has made some achievements on the software development of the main control module of the lightning locating system.This article takes full advantage of the software and hardware features of OMAPL138 to meet the requirements of lightning location system for control accuracy,real-time and power consumption.
