The status of the construction industry as the pillar industry of China's national economy cannot be substituted.However,its rapid development has brought problems such as waste of resources and low production efficiency.With the overall low level of development,the traditional construction industry is facing unprecedented opportunities and challenge.Building Information Model(BIM)is an innovative technology that has been widely used in engineering project construction in recent years.It provides not only ideas for solving problems facing the construction industry,but also support for successful implementation of various construction projects.Thus,both the central and local governments have also issued relevant policies to promote the adoption and application of BIM.However,the adoption of BIM technology in China is still not satisfactory,and most of construction companies are still on the sidelines.Therefore,this article aim to use the IT Adoption Theory to study the willingness of China's construction industry to adopt BIM technology,analyze the main factors affecting BIM technology adoption,and provide a reference for making effective BIM promotion strategy.Based on the literature analysis,this article first selected the Technology Acceptance Model(TAM),Technology-Organization-Environment(TOE)framework,and Self-Determination Theory(SDT)to build a BIM Technology adoption model;Secondly,a questionnaire was designed based on mature scales in previous studies and expert interviews;Then a nationwide survey was conducted within employees of construction industry practitioners,and 278 valid questionnaires were collected;Finally,the data was used to verify the conceptual model,and the results of the fitness analysis and hypothesis testing showed that the model fitted to the data.The results of the study show that:(1)Perceived Usefulness had the largest total effect on Behavior Intention,followed by Perceived Ease of Use;(2)The total effect of other variables on behavioral intention is ranked as follows: Organizational Support> Subjective Norm> Environmental Factor> BIM Software Maturity> Enterprise Need> Autonomy> Self-Efficacy,Organizational Support has negative effects on perceived usefulness and behavioral intention;(3)Objective obstacle factors and intrinsic motivation factors focus on the impact on Perceived Usefulness and Perceived Ease of Use,respectively;Ranking of impact on Perceived Usefulness,Organizational Support> Subjective Norm> Enterprise Need> BIM Software Maturity > Autonomy;Ranking of impact on Perceived Ease of Use,Self-Efficacy> Autonomy> BIM Software Maturity;(4)The hypothesis that the Organization Support positively affecting Perceived Ease of Use does not hold;the hypothesis that Organizational Compatibility positively affects Perceived Ease of Use and Perceived Usefulness does not hold;the hypothesis that selfefficacy positively affects Perceived Usefulness does not hold.From the research results,we can conclude that to promote the adoption and application rate of BIM technology in China's construction industry,we must not only start from technical factor,organizational factor and environmental factor,but also pay attention to the intrinsic motivation that affect individual behavior intention.
