Research On The Design Strategy Of The Migratory Space Of The Aging Housing

The aging problem in China is becoming more and more serious.The proportion of elderly people aged 60 and above is increasing year by year.The developing quantity of pension agency cannot meet the huge domestic demand for the elderly,thus home care is the preferred choice of elderly care mode at present.However,the current universal housing design conflicts with the needs of the elderly in home life,and there are problems such as inconvenient behavior and activities,insufficient safety and comfort,especially for the elderly who are highly dependent on wheelchairs.Therefore,the paper proposes to build the migratory space in the aging housing to solve above problems.The paper firstly reviewed information on the issue of aging in China,relevant pension policies,and the development status of pension agency,and then determined the research direction of aging housing space in the context of home care.Secondly,paper summarized the space needs of aging housing,including the layout,scale,and facilities,combined with universal residential space design conditions,the analysis of the elderly living characteristics and the survey results of the elderly home care needs in residential communities in Xinyang.Thirdly,based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory,space adaptability theory,and barrier-free design theory,it focused on the analysis of the theories and cases related to the migratory space in the building to construct a space model suitable for aging housing from the definition of space domain,the control of space scale,the layout of space flow and the setting of auxiliary facilities.Through the process of discovering and analyzing problems,the design strategies of the migratory space of aging housing were proposed,based on the principles of flexibility,efficiency,safety,and sustainability.Finally,through the transformation design practice of Zichenyuan project in Xinyang that I participated during my internship,according to the migratory space design strategy of aging housing proposed in the fourth chapter,an existing house type in the residential area was selected for experimental design.By comparing and analyzing the proposed scheme with the general residential space and the Tugenhat residential space,the results of the retrofit of the migratory space of the aging housing were obtained.Based on the comprehensive analysis of the elderly’s needs,the paper puts forward a migratory space design strategy of aging housing to solve the inconvenience of the old people’s home life,especially the problem of traffic difficulties,by return line and through vision in the migratory space.With the gradual deepening of aging,the contradiction of domestic elderly care has become increasingly prominent.It is hoped that a more comfortable residential space can be provided for the elderly through the exploration of the migratory space design strategy of the aging housing,so as to meet the vision of the elderly for a better supporting life.
