Innovative Design Of Public Facilities Based On Context Extraction Of Characteristic Blocks

Over the course of urban development,cultural street renovation plays an important role in enhancing and innovating the cultural values accumulated in the process.Urban cultures demonstrate the overall outline of living conditions of citizens,spiritual outlook and urban landscape,which is also closely related to social mentality,behavioral patterns and values of citizens.Public facilities are important parts of streets and blocks.Due to technological development and introduction of external cultures,the appearance design of public facilities focuses excessively on uniqueness while ignoring the inherent cultural values,thus leading to the lack of city blocks.Hence,how to combine block context with public facility design and create facilities with regional characteristics is a key issue in the research on urban development.Firstly,this paper studies the context of blocks,analyzes principal factors of block context,extracts context factors and establishes the base of factors from the following aspects:street environment,characteristic buildings and historic culture,etc.Then,by analyzing the cases of representative public facilities,the paper summarizes the corresponding principles of design,including regionalism,comfort and unity,from perspectives of material characteristics,color composition and modeling language.Next,concerning the process and methods of public facility design in characteristic blocks,the paper systematically discusses and elaborates on the following aspects:design orientation,context element extraction,the combination of context,elements and public facilities.Last but not least,with the example of public facilities in Zhongshan Road,Shenyang,natural environment,architectural features and historic culture are researched to analyze the existing features and distribution.On the basis of design factors like population features,usage analysis,color orientation and material selection,the extracted morphological characteristics and elements are incorporated into the innovative design of public facilities.The ultimate purpose is to come up with public facility designs of unique contexts in Zhongshan Road,Shenyang,in order to provide new directions and ideas of innovative design for public facilities.
