Qingdao Port International Competitiveness Evaluation And Promotion Strategy Research

The Modern port is an important infrastructure of a country or an area to effectively integrate into economic globalization and participate in international competition.It is also the gateway and the handover place of maritime trade.Under the background of international economic development and enhancement of international trade,China timely put forward the Vision and Actions on Promoting the Jointly Building Silk Road Economic Belt and 21 st Century Maritime Silk Road,aiming at strengthening the construction of fifteen coastal ports.Qingdao Port,which is to be strengthened in the proposal,is of great significance to the economic development of Qingdao,Shandong Province and even China if it can enhance its international competitiveness.This paper aims to evaluate the international competitiveness of Qingdao Port and put forward the corresponding development strategies.Firstly,this paper explains the relevant concepts and influencing factors of port’s international competitiveness.Secondly,this paper analyzes the international competitiveness advantages of Qingdao Port from five aspects,including infrastructure,number of shipping routes,development potential,hinterland economy and transportation system,and analyzes the disadvantages of international competitiveness of Qingdao Port from three aspects,including transportation system,infrastructure and port competition.Then,the international competitiveness of Qingdao Port and domestic ports is empirically analyzed based on the entropy weight TOPSIS method.On the basis of cluster analysis and coefficient of variation method to screen the indicators,the constructed indicator system is evaluated by K-W test and rationality test,therefore horizontal and vertical comparison of thirteen ports is made.Finally,according to the specific values and ranking distribution of the first-level and second-level indicators,the strong and weak points of the international competitiveness of Qingdao Port and domestic ports are compared in detail.In the evaluation of the international competitiveness of Qingdao Port and foreign ports,the index system is constructed according to relevant literature,then the entropy weight TOPSIS method and cluster analysis are used to rank and classify,and the advantages as well as the disadvantages of Qingdao Port and each international competitiveness are compared.The empirical results show that the international competitiveness of Qingdao Port is relatively higher than that of domestic ports.But when compared with foreign ports,the international competitiveness level of Qingdao Port needs to be improved.Therefore,Qingdao Port should make adjustments and improvements in infrastructure,financial situation,hinterland potential,development potential and international participation,so as to make up for its various shortcomings,enhance its international competitiveness,and realize the goal of becoming a container hub port and a regional shipping center.
