The urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River is an important part of the overall layout of my country’s coordinated regional development. It is composed of the Wuhan City Circle, the Poyang Lake City Cluster, and the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan City Cluster. The urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River has superior traffic conditions, with modern port clusters, regional hub airports, and traffic arteries, forming a three-dimensional transportation network, laying a solid foundation for the establishment of a logistics network between cities. In November 2020,at the symposium on comprehensively promoting the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt,Xi Jinping emphasized that the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt should promote high-quality economic development. Therefore, from the perspective of logistics, finding a path to promote local economic development, and then actively integrating into the construction of the Yangtze River Economic Belt,is an important direction for the development of the midstream urban agglomeration. As a derivative product of market circulation, regional logistics is an indispensable element for the coordinated development of regional economy, and plays an irreplaceable role in optimizing regional resource allocation and regional economic structure.Through different city networks,inter-regional cities can be linked together.Inter-city logistics is an important part of the city network, and inter-city freight transport is an indispensable part of inter-city logistics. As a kind of logistics network, road freight network is a good medium for studying urban network. Therefore,in the existing research, this article focuses on the freight network, and first conducts an inductive analysis on the construction and measurement of the freight network, and the theory of flow space. Then, build a freight network model, based on freight frequency and freight volume, comprehensively analyze the flow of freight between the midstream urban agglomerations and the outside world from the perspectives of input network, output network, and internal network from 2011 to 2018.Then,taking 2011,2014,and 2018 as time nodes, comprehensively using node degree, social network analysis, and data visualization technology to measure and analyze the overall freight network of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River urban agglomeration and the changes in the intensity of connections between node cities and the evolution characteristics of the spatial pattern. Finally, from the perspective of six flow elements,a multiple regression model is constructed, and the main factors that promote and restrict the evolution of the pattern are identified according to the regression coefficients and significance of the urban node degree and element flow, and then development policies are formulated for these influencing elements. The research found that:(1)The city clusters in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River have close freight transportation with the Yangtze River Delta and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomerations, and have fewer interactions with the west;Obvious changes from loose to agglomeration;(3)Freight transport and economic development are not synchronized, there are "enclave freight" and "freight alliance" phenomena within urban agglomerations, and the freight network is developing towards integration and balance;(4)Information flow, technology flow and traffic flow are the most important factors affecting the development of urban freight. It is necessary to promote the integrated development of freight flow, information flow, technology flow, and traffic flow, improve the coordinated development level of the middle reaches of the city clusters, and promote the better integration of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River into the Yangtze River Economic Belt Construction.
