The dowry pattern of Ming and Qing Dynasties is the product left over from Chinese traditional culture. The decorative pattern is diverse, rich and unique in shape and color. However, due to the lag of dowry protection technology, few dowry relics are handed down.In addition, with the fast-paced life style, people are more keen on using "fast food" products. Therefore, dowry art in the Ming and Qing Dynasties is becoming increasingly dim.In face of this situation, this paper aims to apply the makeup pattern of Ming and Qing Dynasties to the product design of the self-created brand, combine the artistic characteristics of the pattern with modern product design, and continue to innovate and develop on the basis of inheriting the essence of the art of predecessors. In this paper, the dowry patterns of the Ming and Qing Dynasties are taken as the research object.First, the dowry itself is studied, then the various elements are analyzed and applied to the product design of the self-created brand. The methods of case study, comparative study, visual analysis and practical research are adopted. The analysis of modelling and color elements of the Ming and Qing Dynasties’ makeup pattern is carried out.First, the pattern is re-designed,and then the appropriate color is extracted.Combined with the characteristics of the product itself, the design is carried out.The reasonable application of the makeup pattern in the design of modern products in the Ming and Qing Dynasties can not only increase its practical application value, carry forward its artistic spirit, but also add a touch of creativity to the design of modern products.
