Research On The Form Of Traditional Courtyard Residences In Suzhou

Suzhou is a famous historical and cultural city,with a history of nearly 2500 years,and is the central area of Wu culture.The history of more than 2000 years has nurtured a unique traditional Suzhou residential culture,which is an important part of Chinese architectural culture.Among the many traditional residential buildings in Suzhou,courtyard houses are the most common type.It can be said to be a representative of Suzhou’s traditional residential buildings,which embodies the residential culture of Suzhou.The courtyard-style traditional dwellings composed of several or even dozens of courtyards are an important part of them.They have a unique spatial form and are an important manifestation of Suzhou’s traditional dwelling culture.Therefore,the study of its spatial form is of great significance to the protection and inheritance of Suzhou’s traditional dwellings.However,judging from the existing research results on traditional residences in Suzhou,there are few separate studies on this type of residences,and there is a lack of in-depth analysis of their spatial forms.The thesis first conducts an in-depth study of the overall space,main space and connection space of Suzhou courtyard-style traditional houses from the three perspectives of space form,scale and order.The main space refers to the hall and courtyard space,and the connection space includes corridors and lanes.Combining field research and analysis of a large number of cases,the spatial pattern of traditional courtyard houses in Suzhou is summarized through readable graphical language.On this basis,it analyzes the value of various spaces,finds the main value of the traditional courtyard-style residential space in Suzhou,and proposes its inheritance strategy at the application level of contemporary rural construction.At the end of the thesis,on the basis of theoretical research,I tried to make a trial design of a villager concentration point in Zhoujing Village,Shanghai.This paper conducts in-depth research on the overall space,main space and connection space of Suzhou courtyard-style traditional houses,and summarizes the spatial pattern of Suzhou courtyard-style traditional houses.And on this basis,through the value analysis of various spaces,the main value of the traditional courtyard-style residential space in Suzhou is found,and specific strategies for its inheritance are proposed,in order to provide a reference for the inheritance of Suzhou regional architectural culture.
