With the rapid development of urbanization,in the process of urban renewal,both at home and abroad,there are many cities with old buildings and some old space being demolished and renovated.Beijing has also been carrying out some large and small renewal projects over the years.Vegetable market belongs to a public space,and has a long history,as a part of the city,some scholars once called it the city’s "stomach ".All along,it has assumed an essential role in a city,providing residents with rich and cheap fresh food,promoting neighborhood communication,and is also an indispensable public activity space for residents.But in the process of urban renewal,with the increase of land value and the change of life style,hundreds of vegetable markets in Beijing have disappeared,and many vegetable markets are facing the risk of being demolished.The surrounding community is also facing the problem of buying food.Therefore,exploring the transformation of community vegetable market from the perspective of urban renewal is helpful to restore community vitality and promote the development of surrounding economy.This paper focuses on the role of vegetable market in the renewal of old residential community in the perspective of urban renewal.Taking the vegetable market in Sanyuanli,Beijing as an example,this paper analyzes the specific situation of vegetable market through literature research,comparative analysis and field investigation.The discussion is divided into three parts:The first part: covering the first and second chapters,mainly discusses the concept and research purpose and significance of the old residential community from the perspective of vegetable market and urban renewal.The second part: including the third chapter,summarizes the types,general situation and existing problems of Beijing vegetable market,and puts forward the direction of transformation and the principles to be paid attention to.The third part: including four,five,six chapters,the Beijing vegetable market research,so as to find the problem,explore its relationship with the surrounding communities,put forward the urban renewal perspective of the vegetable market transformation problem solution,hoping to similar old residential communities in the process of urban renewal transformation methods.
