Barrier-free design,as a basic condition for the disabled to go out of the house and participate in social activities, has already broken through the architectural space and extended to the outdoor activity space. As an important place for people’s leisure and entertainment, urban parks represent the image of the city to a certain extent. This paper studies the barrier-free design in urban parks from the following aspects:Firstly,it takes the barrier-free design of urban parks as the research object, analyzes the current research status of barrier-free design in urban parks at home and abroad, and explains the purpose and significance of this paper;Secondly,it defines the concept of urban parks, expounds the formation, development and classification of urban parks.Meanwhile,it expounds the content of barrier-free design, analyzes the origin of barrier-free design concepts and the development of barrier-free design in various fields such as architecture, products, and urban planning. This paper proposes that the barrier-free design in urban parks of China are unclear design levels, and the problems of uncoordinated functions and forms, and lack of barrier-free systemization;Thirdly, based on the current problems in the barrier-free design of urban parks, combined with barrier-free design principles and excellent barrier-free cases at home and abroad,it summarize barrier-free design methods such as the improvement of urban parks in terms of road systems, public facilities, sign guide systems and buildings; Finally, using the barrier-free design concept derived from the analysis and summary of this paper as a guide,it carries out the barrier-free design and transformation of the People’s Park in Hengshui City. This paper uses theory to guide practice and at the same time verifies the theory with practice. It is hoped that this paper will have certain reference value and practical significance for the current design and academic education field.
