Jincheng is a typical resource city that uses coal to form minerals. The independent mining area is an important source of mineral resources. It provides continuous blood infusion for the city’s economy and modernization, and runs through the development of the city. The development of independent mining areas and the growth and development of cities show different interdependence due to different development stages, but they have always been closely related. With the depletion of coal resources, independent mining areas will inevitably fall into a situation that coal is exhausted. At the same time, the expansion of cities and the development of urbanization have caused many independent mining areas to face the challenge of mining retreat into the city. Therefore, how to achieve the integration of mining cities and promote regional sustainable development has become the requirement of the times. The establishment of the national spatial planning system marks that China’s space development and space governance have entered a new era of ecological civilization. The traditional planning pattern has been broken and urban planning has opened a new era.National spatial planning is the basic basis for various development and protection activities within the scope of territorial space, and it also brings new opportunities and theoretical guidance for the transformation of independent mining areas. Therefore, this article takes the independent mining area of Jincheng as an example, analyzes the phased characteristics and spatial relationship between the independent mining area and the urban development and its evolutionary factors, reveals the plight of the redevelopment of the independent mining area, and explores the independent mining area under the background of national spatial planning.District "rebirth from the fire" redevelopment strategy. This research takes the development of the coal industry as the context, combs and analyses the administrative division, economic, social and environmental development of Jincheng in different periods, and then analyzes the development characteristics of independent mining areas.Take the three old independent mining areas as examples, the factors affecting the evolution of the spatial relationship between the mining area and the city are explained from the two levels of natural geographic conditions and socio-economic conditions, and the relationship and interaction between the mining area and the urban space in different periods are analyzed. Finally, under the theoretical guidance of national spatial planning, the requirements for redevelopment of independent mining areas are clarified, the principles for redevelopment are formulated, and the actual conditions of the three old mines are combined to propose redevelopment from the aspects of industrial structure adjustment, facility service optimization, and ecological pattern optimization.Planning strategies are expected to provide a useful reference for the transformation and redevelopment of independent mining areas in our country.
