The Micro-variation Strategy Of Dom-ino Structure With The Intervention Of Structural Thinking

Since the professional division of architecture and civil engineering,architectural design usually shows a linear thinking and unidirectional flow.The mode of work is one of "division of labor" rather than integration.Besides,the frame structure has superior functional adaptability,which leads to the gradual separation of the design thinking from the structure except for the super-high-rise and large-span buildings with special structural requirements.As a result,the inertial thinking of architectural design is often independent of the structural system,and it weakens the functional significance of structure as the carrier of architecture.In the design process,the inertial thinking of one-way selection of frame structure results in architects’ lack of thinking about the influence of structure on architectural form and spatial richness,which forms rigid design thinking and weakens architects’ creativity.However,through the relevant research of toyo ITO,it can be found that the traditional frame structure still has the possibility of slight change,and the building and structure are not without the possibility of further communication on the basic structure.Architects should strengthen the study of professional knowledge of structure so as to realize the intercommunication between architecture and structural thinking in design.Structure,as the material basis of enclosing space and constituting space,its form restricts and influences the content of space.The development of structure often leads to the innovation of space,and the demand of space also pushes forward the progress of structure.In this case,this paper attempts to involve the structural thinking into the process of architectural design,looking for the intersection of structure and space interaction.Based on the re-reading of the traditional domino system,this paper tries to find out the starting point of the reasonable micro-variation strategy of the domino system.In the end,the paper dissolves each structural component of the domino system to find the micro-variation strategy of the domino system corresponding to the mechanical characteristics of different structural components from the aspect of morphology.On the basis of the components of the domino system,re-reading the selected cases with structural characteristics from the structural perspective,this paper proposes the micro-variation strategy of the domino system,so as to improve the weakness of the existing structural prototype,expand the diversity of architectural forms,break the rigid design thinking caused by the excessive use of traditional frame structure,and establish the communication mechanism between architecture and structure,in an attempt to change the dichotomy between practice and research of architecture and structure.At the same time,from the perspective of the intervention of structural thinking,the design is carried out,and the micro-variation strategy of domino system obtained from the research is innovatively applied to the design of the comprehensive practice building of ceramic culture in rongchang district of chongqing.And in the process of application of the results of the study of the problems generated by reflection and summary,leading to the use of this strategy and the scope of limitations.Thus,through the intervention of research and design,we can realize the closed loop in which research guides practice and practice responds to research results.
