Study On The Protection And Development Of Traditional Settlements Along Songmao Ancient Road Based On Perspective Of Cultural Routes

In a cross-regional macroscopic view,the Songmao Ancient Road not only overlaps with the Southwest Silk Road and the Musk Road in space,but also composes an important part of the Sichuan-Tibet Ancient Tea-Horse Road.In more than two thousand years of history,the Songmao Ancient Road has undertaken many historical functions such as commercial trade,military defense,ethnic cultural integration,and the Red War of Resistance,which has accumulated rich historical and cultural connotations.In modern life,the Songmao Ancient Road,as the only pass to connect the Jiuzhai and Huanglong international tourism scenic areas,plays an important role in the "Nine-Ring line" of the Sichuan provincial tourism circle,and at the same time creates economic value for the traditional settlements along the ancient road and even the entire Sichuan province.As a cultural route,the Songmao Ancient Road itself has a profound historical and cultural deposits.In addition,it influences the traditional settlements along the road to produce rich historical and cultural heritage.Even though it has been replaced by the modern traffic system,the historical and cultural value as well as economic value it generates are still worthy of our studies.With the modernization of traditional settlements,Songmao Ancient Road as well as them have suffered dilemmas such as destruction of historical features,diminished cultural characteristics,and decline in vitality.At the same time,the current decentralized protection and development of traditional settlements ignores the importance of cross-regional coordination of historical and cultural protection and economic development,resulting in low efficiency.While the Cultural Route concept is based on the spatial perspective and emphasizes the theory of overall protection,so it is of great importance to introduce it into the conservation practice of the Songmao Ancient Road traditional settlements.In order to carry out the research on the protection and development of traditional settlements along the Songmao Ancient Road,this paper is based on the concept of "Cultural Routes" At the mean while,"proposing problems-theoretical exploration-analyzing problems-tackling problems-specific applications" is proposed as the logical framework being followed.The main discussion is as the following four aspects:(1)Theoretical exploration and protection thinking : the writer analyzes the theoretical content and connotation of the "cultural route" theory,discusses its application to the logical framework of traditional settlements protection and development from the three aspects as necessity,reality,and relevance,and then proposes the idea of traditional settlements protection from the overall level of the route and the individual settlement level on the perspectives of cultural route,which lays a theoretical foundation for the study of this article;(2)Current characteristics of the research target areas:Based on a large amount of historical data,references and field investigations,the following aspects are summarized:(1)Songmao Ancient Road is considered as the basic feature of cultural routes;(2)Analyzing the evolution process and influencing factors of traditional settlements along the road under the influence of the ancient road;(3)Analyzing the relevance and characteristics of the traditional settlements along the ancient road(3)Problems analyzing and strategies proposal:the writer summarizes the current dilemma of the protection and development of the ancient road settlements,and puts forward the protection and development framework from the two levels of the overall route and the individual settlement.Finally,the strategy of "building a point-line-plate linkage system" was proposed from the overall level of the route,and the strategy of the individual settlements was proposed from the two aspects of the historical and cultural protection and the socio-economic development.(4)Practical applications:the representative settlements on the Songmao Ancient Road—Songpan County is selected by the writer as an example case to research the influence of the Songmao Ancient Road on the generation and development of Songpan County as well as the problems and challenges faced in the protection and development of the Songmao Ancient Road.Combined with the “cultural route”theory which is applicated to the logic of conservations of the traditional settlements,then the protection development strategies are gradually proposed.Based on the idea of the Cultural Routes,this paper constructs a protection and development system targeted on the traditional settlements along the ancient road.Taking the traditional settlements along the Songmao Ancient Road as a case of example,this paper explores the historical context,route distributions,basic characteristics of the Songmao Ancient Road in a holistic view.In addition,the characteristics of the relevance and difference of traditional settlements are considered to analyze the dilemmas of the settlements along the ancient road in protections and development.This not only strengthens the identities of the Songmao Ancient Road as a cultural route and thus obtains more comprehensive protections,but also helps to explore the characteristics and problems of the settlements along the route from a holistic perspective,thereby realizing the overall protections and developments of the road.
