| With the advancement of urbanization, the high-intensity and high-density urban development has caused the rapid destruction of historical and cultural heritage and faced the danger of extinction, and the continuation and inheritance of urban historical landscape is faced with severe challenges.Suzhou is located on the shore of Taihu Lake, surrounded by mountains, and the climate is mild and humid. The Beijing-Hangzhou Canal runs from north to south and has a developed economy. It is one of the first batch of national historical and cultural cities in my country. The ancient city of Suzhou has a long history of construction, dating back to the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period.During the Ming and Qing Dynasties,Suzhou’s commodity economy was prosperous and the handicraft industry developed rapidly, making it one of the economic and cultural centers of the Jiangnan region. At the same time, the Ming and Qing Dynasties were also an important period for the evolution of Suzhou’s historical landscape.Emperor Kangxi and Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty made six southern tours, each of which was stationed in Suzhou. In the twenty-ninth year of Qianlong(1764),painter Xu Yang painted twelve volumes of Qianlong’s Southern Tour, which recorded the grand event of Qianlong’s Southern Tour.Among them, the sixth volume of Drawings of Qianlong’s Inspection Tour to the South--Resident Gusu is the longest volume among the twelve volumes. The volume is 68.6cm in length and 2171.9cm in width. The whole picture adopts realistic techniques, and delicately depicts the mountains and rivers of Suzhou in the Qing Dynasty, rural places, cities, cities and rivers, residential buildings, customs, etc.,and it truly reproduces the landscape of Suzhou in that period and has rich historical value. This thesis uses literature research, comparative analysis, field investigation and other research methods, starting with landscape elements, and interprets and analyzes the landscape of Suzhou in the Qing Dynasty shown in the volume of Resident Gusu. This thesis consists of six chapters: Chapter One is the introduction, which elaborates the research background, purpose and significance, research content, and research status of this article. The second chapter combs the historical evolution of Suzhou city in various periods, and explores its architectural evolution, urban changes, mountains and rivers since the Spring and Autumn Period. The third chapter sorts out the relevant historical background of Drawings of Qianlong’s Inspection Tour to the South.According to the content of the image, the starting and ending route drawn in the volume of Resident Gusu was determined, and the content of each paragraph was interpreted and analyzed by image segments. The fourth chapter interprets and analyzes the content of the picture scroll based on the six landscape elements of city wall, street space, building group space, structure, river, and garden scenic spot. The fifth chapter discusses the relationship between various landscape elements and conducts correlation analysis, summarizes the characteristics of landscape style.Chapter VI summarizes the full text and makes a prospect for further in-depth research.Image analysis plays an important role in expanding the breadth and depth of historical research on landscape architecture.Interpretation of the picture Resident Gusu can refine the characteristics of the Qing Dynasty Suzhou historical landscape and make up for the lack of historical documents. This thesis has the following two main meanings: in the field of garden history and theoretical research,it is helpful to analyze the historical image to deeply explore the characteristics of ancient regional landscape context, and provide a new perspective for the study of the history of classical gardens in my country;in terms of practice,It will help to further explore the characteristics of the historical landscape of Suzhou city, and provide a certain reference for the protection of the landscape of the ancient city of Suzhou. |
