| The Yi people are an important part of the southwestern Di-Qiang ethnic group, one of the oldest and largest minority groups.Yunnan is one of the major settlements of the Yi people, and its rich geography, natural climate, and customs have given birth to distinctive Yi houses.Yi dwellings not only contain the survival wisdom of the people of this ethnic group, but they also practically reflect the historical and cultural structure and information of the ethnic group, and from the perspective of architectural history,Yi dwellings are also an indispensable historical and architectural cultural heritage. This paper takes the current urbanization and rural revitalization process as the starting point for the renewal of traditional dwellings.Based on the collection, organization, and summarization of existing literature and results and relevant field surveys, this paper uses topological thinking to gain an in-depth understanding and summary of the evolution and development of the Yi dwellings in Yunnan and to reveal the evolutionary pattern of the dwellings. The study explores the "adaptive" renewal of Yunnan Yi houses. This study summarizes the topological thinking of Yunnan Yi dwellings in the following aspects: First, the Yi people’s semi-agricultural and semi-pastoral socioeconomic period, along with the development of production and lifestyle, was accompanied by a gradual increase in the demand for architectural space and continuous advances in construction technology, which eventually led to a series of topological nonidentical changes in the Yi dwellings in response to production needs, resulting in three types of Yi dwellings: huts, cave dwellings, and earthen-walled houses. The three structural types of Yi dwellings are the nest, the cave, and the earthen-walled house.Secondly,by combing the evolution of the architectural forms of the Yi people in Yunnan,we illustrate that under the influence of the natural,socio-cultural,and economic, and technological environments, the interior functions and spatial differentiation of the Yi dwellings,as well as the construction materials and decorations, have undergone various changes, while the stability of the Yi ethnic beliefs makes the dwelling forms homogeneous and heterogeneous, which are topological homogeneous changes based on the prototypes. Also, under the topological thinking, the spontaneous construction process of Yunnan Yi dwellings under different regional conditions and social environment is the localization and environmentalization of the corresponding topological structure, while the settlement is influenced by the local natural environment and the needs of folklife, and the organic combination of topological diversity and unity is the result of the spontaneous selection and adaptation of the topological structure of Yi dwellings, which shows The organic combination of topological diversity and unity is the result of spontaneous selection and adaptation of Yi house topology, which is a direct expression of the adaptive layout of Yi house topology to the natural environment and social life. Finally, this study concludes that the evolution of Yi dwellings in Yunnan has undergone "ephemeral" development with non-homogeneous topological changes, and "co-temporal" changes with homogeneous changes to produce a variety of forms, with dwellings forming a diverse and unified topological group of communities in the context of environmental choices. In this new era of change,we will discuss the survival and development of the Yi dwellings in Yunnan in the context of specific cases, and try to distill the evolutionary patterns and trends of the Yi dwellings, while guiding the development of the Yi dwellings to a more positive direction under the premise of artificial choices intervening in the "adaptive" adaptation of nature and maintaining the sustainable development of harmonious habitats. This study is an attempt to apply topological thinking to the design of the Yi houses. This study attempts to use topological thinking to study the evolution and adaptive regeneration of traditional Yi dwellings in Yunnan, and to derive corresponding evolutionary patterns and regeneration strategies to inspire the regeneration of Yi settlements and dwellings in Yunnan, and to provide some reference and reference for current and future dwelling tracing and sustainable regeneration efforts. |
