Research On The Industry Heritage Of Guangdong Shipbuilding

Guangdong is an important concentration of shipbuilding industry in China,and its natural conditions of being adjacent to the South China Sea and having a dense river network have created unique advantages for the development of shipbuilding industry.After the Opium War at the end of Qing Dynasty,Couper founded the first modern shipbuilding enterprise in China-Couper Dock Company in Huangpu,and the ship repair industry began to transition from handicraft workshops to modern industry.After the founding of New China,in order to improve the shipping capacity and promote the development of national economy,Guangdong began to build shipbuilding factories one after another,which laid the foundation for the development of Guangdong shipbuilding industry.However,after the reform and opening up,with the rapid development of highways,railroads and other transportation industries,Guangdong shipbuilding industry was hit.Under the influence of factors such as reduced production volume and insufficient production tasks,some shipyards were acquired,relocated and abandoned one after another,and after completing their historical mission of ship repair,they began to be heritage,and stepped into the process of conservation and reuse,among which the transformation and utilization of Guangdong Zhongshan Yuezhong Shipyard after heritage created a model of China’s shipbuilding industry heritage reuse practice.Guangdong’s shipbuilding industry heritage has a large number,wide distribution,diversified types,obvious characteristics and rich historical heritage,and is an important source for studying the development of Guangdong’s shipbuilding industry.At present,only a small part of the marine industrial heritage in Guangdong has legal protection status,and a large number of marine industrial heritage with high value has not been effectively concerned.With the protection of industrial heritage in recent years,a small number of marine industrial buildings and industrial equipment with outstanding value in these shipyards have been preserved,becoming the historical witness of the development of Guangdong’s marine industry.The article firstly compares the historical development of Guangdong shipbuilding industry,studies the development line of Guangdong shipbuilding industry in the late Qing Dynasty,Republic of China and New China period and the construction of shipbuilding industry in various regions of Guangdong,and tries to analyze the dynamic mechanism of the process of shipyard heritage.Then,based on field research and the collation of literature,the distribution,types and characteristics of Guangdong shipbuilding industry heritage are summarized,revealing the historical,technological,artistic and social values embedded in the heritage.At the same time,it compares the current protection and preservation status of Guangdong’s shipbuilding industrial heritage,summarizes the existing protection and utilization mode with existing protection and utilization cases,and analyzes the existing problems in the process of protection and utilization of Guangdong’s shipbuilding industrial heritage.Finally,the conservation and reuse of Guangdong shipbuilding industrial heritage is quantified and analyzed through value evaluation,while the conservation and reuse of Guangdong shipbuilding industrial heritage is discussed from three levels: system,planning and heritage,hoping to provide reference ideas for the conservation and reuse of Guangdong shipbuilding industrial heritage.
