Retrospect And Thinking Of Regional Modern Architecture In Guangzhou(1920s To Present)

As a city with a long history and distinctive climate characteristics,Guangzhou City embodies distinctive regional characteristics in architecture.As a part of Lingnan architecture,Guangzhou’s regional modern architecture also has its relatively independent development context and characteristics.This article is based on the understanding of regionality—mainly starting from two aspects of natural characteristics and humanistic and historical characteristics,taking Guangzhou’s regional modern architecture as the research object,and combing the development process and stages of Guangzhou’s regional modern architecture since the 1920 s.On this basis,it is compared with the regional architectural ideas and practices in other regions at home and abroad during the same period.This not only clarifies the positioning of the regional modern architecture development in Guangzhou,but also compares the regional modern architecture in other regions.Drawing lessons from the development situation has reference value for promoting the more prosperous development of regional modern architecture in Guangzhou.Based on the research on the urban development context of Guangzhou and the theoretical research related to modern architecture in Lingnan,this paper integrates the development characteristics of regional modern architectural practice in Guangzhou,and divides the regional modern architectural creation in Guangzhou since 1920 into four main developments.stage.The thesis is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is to define the research object,and explain the current situation of domestic and foreign related research and the development phase basis of Guangzhou’s regional modern architecture.The remaining four chapters are an introduction to the four main development stages of regional modern architecture in Guangzhou,respectively discussing its social development background and Guangzhou’s urban development context,and discussing the regional modern architecture of Guangzhou in each stage from the theoretical and practical levels.The development status and cases of the company are introduced,and the main development characteristics and creative techniques of each stage are summarized.At the same time,through the comparison with the regional architectural ideas and practices in other regions at home and abroad during the same period,the development of regional modern architecture in Guangzhou is considered.In general,Guangzhou’s regional modern architecture has a tradition of emphasizing space and technology in the development process,but the processing methods are not diversified enough.How to be rooted in the local regional characteristics and to continuously expand the depth and breadth of thinking while absorbing local and foreign culture and technology is what needs to be considered in the development of regional modern architecture in Guangzhou in the future.
