A Historical Study On Development And Paradigm Of Guangzhou Modern City Planning

This study comes from the project of the excellent youthful teacher of Ministry of Education, the historical study on paradigms of Chinese early-modern city planning. Through the perspective of history, the paper puts great emphasis on analyzing the development of Guangzhou modern city planning and the establishment of the planning making system and management system, probing into the influence from the theory of city planning in some western countries and the thought of modern city planning in China on Guangzhou, and analyzing the origin and application of the paradigm in Guangzhou city planning. During the process of "citing→ assimilating→ transforming→forming", It discovers that the institution system has been established. His successful experiences have been approved that the "planning institution" is both the essence of early-modern and modern city planning. At the same time, only seeking the suitable way for local development and centering on society, politics and economy, we can find real outlet.The paper consists of six chapters.The first chapter is introduction, which is bounded in the objective and range of this study and described the former research, the purposes, significance, methods and techniques of the whole thesis. Through the analysis and investigation, the paper tries to reveal the experiences and lessons of city planning from 1949 to now. It tries to search the way for the reform of Chinese city planning and provide historical and theoretical evidences for the future development of Guangzhou. The research adopts methods of "time ordinate"& "transverse compare".The second chapter describes the geography predominance of Guangzhou, policy environment of country, the great gymkhana on Guangzhou. It affects the development of Guangzhou city and evolvement of special layouts. Through the perspective of the history of city formation, it analyzes from two aspects of both immanent cause and exogenous cause.The third and forth chapters are the main body of the paper. Based on its own character and the change of Chinese politics, economy and society, the paper defines the historical phases of Guangzhou modern city planning, reviews the course and content of each phases, and studies the establishment of Guangzhou city planning institution.The fifth chapter is analyzable part. It compares the modern city planning of Guangzhou with western countries and Chinese and studies the paradigm and the paradigm shift in it. Thus makes the historical research deepen into the theoretical research.The sixth chapter makes a conclusion, which summarizes the evolvement of modern city planning and makes a vista of future development in Guangzhou.The paper purposes to gain an apocalypse from the study, provides a reference for the reform of Chinese city planning and Guangzhou future city planning and construction, thus makes the study has practical significance.
