The Research Of Warehouse Industrial Heritage In Guangzhou

Guangzhou is an important commercial and economic center and a foreign trade port city,with the transportation advantages of land and sea transfer and convenience of both land and water.The logistics and storage needs of commercial trade and industrial production have given birth to storage space,and the warehouse,as a storage entity,is the basis of supporting Guangzhou to play a strong trade radiation capacity and trade transshipment function.The formation and evolution of storage space is not only the practical need of Guangzhou’s industrial and commercial trade development,but also an important aspect reflecting Guangzhou’s urban development history.At present,with the adjustment of industrial structure and the transformation of transportation modes in cities,many productive warehouse activities that played an important role in the past gradually declined,leaving a large number of idle industrial heritages of warehouse.These warehouse industrial heritages are numerous,rich in types and unique in value,which are the physical witness of modern social and economic development in Guangzhou,and also an important embodiment of Guangzhou as an important port trading city and a cargo distribution center city.This study attempts to analyze the formation background of Guangzhou warehouse industrial heritage through historical combing,explore its rich historical and cultural significance,reveal its characteristics,composition and value through investigation and study,and analyze the current status and problems of protection and utilization,so as to further form a deep understanding of Guangzhou warehouse industrial heritage and provide suggestions and ideas for subsequent protection and reuse.Firstly,this paper combs the historical process of the formation and development of Guangzhou’s urban storage space in modern times,and tries to interpret the construction and spatial distribution of storage in different periods under the influence of foreign trade,urban planning,industrial and commercial development and other multiple factors.Then,sort out the list of modern warehouse industry remains in Guangzhou,and carry out in-depth investigation and data collection,grasp its current situation,and summarize its basic types.On the basis of the above research,this paper puts forward the elements of Guangzhou warehouse industrial heritage,and reveals the characteristics and values of Guangzhou warehouse industrial heritage.Finally,the existing problems in the protection and utilization of Guangzhou warehouse industrial heritage are analyzed,and the follow-up protection and utilization strategies are discussed.This paper holds that the formation and development of Guangzhou’s storage space is closely related to two important aspects of its urban functions,namely,the regional commercial center and the foreign trade center.The social and economic development in different periods and the change of transportation pattern are important guiding factors for the distribution of storage space,which leads Guangzhou’s storage space to be distributed structurally and intensively along the Pearl River and railway.The existing industrial heritage of warehouse in Guangzhou can better reflect the history and development characteristics of Guangzhou warehouse architecture,which contains profound value,and has high potential value and the possibility of transformation and reuse under the background of urban stock renewal.However,at present,there is a lack of attention to Guangzhou’s warehouse industrial heritage and insufficient value cognition.Therefore,we should carry out systematic survey and value identification as soon as possible,and promote the protection and reuse of warehouse industrial heritage in combination with its own characteristics.
