In the second decade of Twenty-first Century,China’s urbanization is booming undoubtedly.with the urban construction and expansion,urban population is rising constantly.while the demand for basic education of social are rising correspondingly.instantly,the city primary schools have mushroomed.In order to adapt to the development of the city and new educational concept in the new era,how to meet the practical needs at this stage and to learn from outstanding research achievements at home and abroad,to promote innovation and development of primary public space has important practical significance.In this paper,the modern primary school’s extracurricular activities as the starting point for research,on the basis of the existing research theory,to explore the inevitability of activities design in the dimension of vertical.From the pupils’psychological characteristics,behavior characteristics and needs of the campus space to start,Through the theory and case analysis,to sum up the principles and strategies of vertical space design,and hope for the reference value for the space environment construction of the urban primary schools in the future.Paper first discusses the background,purpose and methods of the research,and clear and definite the concept and scope of vertical space design in urban primary schools.Secondly,through the literature analysis and practical case researches,the paper analyzes the problems and development direction of urban School constructions.And from the basic elements constituting the vertical space,the paper analyzes and summarizes the forms and characteristics of the elements,explores the applications in urban primary schools,and summed up the principles of vertical space design in urban primary schools adapting to the new philosophy of education.Finally,with the outstanding examples at home and abroad,the paper analyzes and summarized design techniques and design elements of various types of public space in primary schools.practice-based project,the paper confirmed the vertical space design theory on urban primary school,which the paper presented.
