A Comparative Research On The Architectural Features Of The Yao And Han Settlements In Jiangyong County

The Yao and Han nationalities is the main nationality in Jiangyong country.Under the influence of the Zhaoan Xiashan,the county’s population has gradually developed from Yao people living in mountains and Han people living in flat areas to a pattern of Yao and Han people living together.As a result,the Yao Han settlements in Jiangyong have had close exchanges.This has a profound impact on the residential buildings of the Yao.It has not only changed the architectural styles of some Yao residences,but also promoted the evolution of the architectural structure of the Yao residences,making the Yao settlements in Jiangyong present a pattern of multiple coexistence with folk houses.The Yao nationality in Jiangyong country of hunan is composed of five major branches,among which the Jiuyuan belongs to Gaoshan Yao and the Four Min Yao belongs to Pingdi Yao.This paper conducts a systematic comparative study of the residential buildings of Gaoshan Yao,Pingdi Yao and Han settlements to explore the characteristics of Jiangyong Yaohan settlements and buildings,with a view to make an important supplement to the comparative study of Yaohan settlements.This paper conducts a systematic study on the distribution,historical background and architectural characteristics of the Yao and Han settlements in Jiangyong on the basis of a large number of field investigations,literature readings and ancient residential surveys,revealing the characteristics of cultural blending presented by the Zhaoan.The paper consists of five chapters,which are divided into four parts.The first part introduces the historical and geographical features of Jiangyong County,the background and historical evolution of the Yao and Han settlements,paving the way for the study of the Yao and Han settlements in the later period.The second part compares the morphological characteristics of the Yao and Han settlements from the macro level,mainly from the three aspects of settlement site selection,settlement layout and settlement spatial structure,points out that the similarities and differences of Han and Yao settlements at the macro level and their internal influencing factors.The third part compares the Yaohan settlements laneways and residential morphology from the meso level,and gradually expounds the inherent differences of Yaohan settlements in the interaction between the residential buildings and lanes.The four part compares the spatial characteristics of residential buildings in Yao and Han settlements from the micro level,including the plane form,structural form and decorative features of the buildings,clears the similarities and differences of the residential buildings of different ethnic groups and the influence brought by the historical events.The Zhaoan Xiashan promoted the exchange between the yao and han culture.Under the influence of the han culture and modernization,yao and han settlements in Jiang Yong faced architectural culture melting and destructive development.This study aims to comparison yao and han settlement’s script in jiangyong,the forming mechanism between buildings and street and residential construction,reveal the intrinsic law of development of yao and han settlements.At the same time,the archives of important yao and han settlements in Jiangyong are established.
