Sichuan Tibetan areas is located in the transition section of the Han culture and Tibetan culture,long-term survival in culture and conflict make distinctive architecture in this area,the turn of the 20 th century,the special historical background made in Sichuan Tibetan areas has become the focus of attention in the west,many westerners with various purposes in Sichuan Tibetan areas and with distinctive Sichuan Tibetan areas of western perspective the distinctive building,Their records have much historical value that can be excavated.This article analyzes the Sichuan Tibetan architecture recorded by the Westerners from the perspective of Westerners.By collecting and sorting out a large number of Westerners’ travels in Tibet at the turn of the 20 th century,this article analyzes the settlements and buildings in Sichuan Tibetan areas recorded by the Westerners at the turn of the 20 th century from the perspective of architecture.,And combined with the characteristics of Westerners’ understanding of architecture to analyze some of the differences presented in the records.On the one hand,it is hoped that the purpose of looking at Western records in a rational manner can be achieved,on the other hand,it is also an exploration to expand the scope of research on architectural historical materials.This article mainly analyzes the three major parts of the starting point of the other’s eyes,the record under the eyes of the other,and the reflection of the differences in the eyes of the other,and draws the research conclusions layer by layer.First of all,the introduction part of the article sorts out basic issues such as the research background,current situation,purpose,and research theory of this article.The second chapter begins with the starting point from the eyes of the others in the main analysis part of the article,mainly to summarize the tendencies that Westerners may appear when observing the buildings in the Tibetan areas of Sichuan.Analyze from three aspects: the collective understanding of Chinese architecture by Western scholars,the various trends in which Westerners have come to understand architecture under the influence of the times,and the differences in individual identities of Westerners;Chapters3 and 4 analyze the settlement and architectural presentation under the eyes of others from the perspective of architecture.The third chapter analyzes the characteristics of the settlements in Sichuan Tibetan areas recorded by the Westerners.First,by combing the recorded time evolution characteristics vertically and horizontally combing its spatial route characteristics,it is concluded that the Sichuan-Tibet line and Jiarong Tibetan area are the main classification logic to discuss the western records of settlements,The fourth chapter is divided into four types of residential buildings,towers,Tu Si Guan Zha,and Tibetan Buddhist monasteries to classify and discuss the architectural characteristics recorded by the Westerners;Chapter 5discusses the differences and reflections in the eyes of others,and uses a combination of field investigation and literature research to understand the Sichuan Tibetan architecture observed by Westerners at the turn of the 20 th century.By comparing the building types with the architectural features of the Western records summarized in the previous article,and then summarize the differences presented by the Western records,On this basis,combined with the various trends of Westerners’ understanding of architecture to reflect on the reasons for the differences in records;Chapter 6 is the summary part of this article.This part sorts out the logic of the article’s analysis and the main conclusions drawn.It is hoped that this article can provide beneficial thinking for obtaining information on the architectural history of Sichuan Tibetan areas through Westerners’ travels in Tibet,and make some active explorations for expanding the scope of architectural history research.
