In recent years, with the development of urbanization, urban problems such as traffic congestion and urban smog have become more and more prominent. These problems not only affect people’s work and life but also are not beneficial to the future development of the city. The essential problem of urban traffic congestion is the incoordination of traffic supply and land use.Just unilaterally speeding up the construction of urban rail transit cannot solve the problem of traffic congestion. It is necessary to improve the intensive use of land within the scope of transportation supply capacity to enable the coordinated development of rail transit and land use.First of all, this article starts from the interactive relationship between rail transit and land use and summarizes the research methods and research results of domestic and foreign researchers.Based on the analysis of the interaction between rail transit and land use in the station areas along the line, the connotation and mechanism of coordinated development between rail transit and land use are expounded.Next, use the "node-location" model to construct a comprehensive evaluation index system for rail transit and land use.According to the TOD construction principles of rail transit stations and the concept of intensive land use, with the development goals of maximizing passenger flow, highest economic benefits, and optimizing the living environment of residents,a land-use optimization model for rail transit station areas was constructed and improved genetic algorithms were used.Solve the model. Finally, this paper selects Chengdu Rail Transit Line 3 as the research object and obtains the coordination degree and development level of the rail transit line 3 site area based on the evaluation index system. The study found that there is no inconsistency between the traffic and land use in the site area of Metro Line 3 in Chengdu, and the level of development is decreasing from the centre to both sides. For sites with uncoordinated development,an optimization strategy is proposed according to the category of the site;for sites with a lower level of development, the land use optimization model is used for simulation optimization.
