In order to actively respond to the national mine recovery action, the Lingwu mining area of Ningxia has launched an action of vegetation restoration on coal waste piles. This paper takes 8 species of artificial shrubbery on the coal waste piles of the Yangchangwan coal mine in Lingwu mining area of Ningxia as the research object, samples the vegetation and forest soil to make an investigation and analysis, and uses the combination evaluation method to select indicators for comprehensive evaluation, aiming to screen out the dominant vegetation in this area, and provide a theoretical basis for the selection of vegetation tree species in this area. The results of the study are as follows:(1)After 3 growing seasons, the height and coverage of the shrub layer of Tamarix ramosissima increased the fastest, increasing by 0.87 m and 38% respectively.Tamarix ramosissima has the largest total biomass and the highest shrub biomass percentage(97.91%).Among the 8 types of shrubbery,Tamarix ramosissima has the most obvious overall growth.(2)Among the 8 types of shrubbery,a total of 36 species, which belong to 11 families and32 genera, were found;among them, there are 8 species of shrubs, belonging to Leguminosae,Tamariaceae,Verbenaceae,Elaeagnaceae,Asteraceae;there are 28 species Herbs, belonging to8 families and 24 genera, and are mainly Chenopodiaceae(7 species)and Compositae(7species),followed by Gramineae(6 species). The barnyard grass is the dominant herb on the coal waste piles of the Yangchangwan coal mine. The understory herbs are mainly one-year or two-year-old herbs.(3)The comprehensive analysis of the aboveground vegetation species diversity characteristics showed that the indexes of Tamarix ramosissima were better than other shrubbery, indicating that Tamarix ramosissima developed well on the coal waste piles of the Yangchangwan coal mine, and the community characteristics have good stability.(4)Among the 8 species of artificial shrubbery,Caragana korshinskii Kom had the worst effect on improving the physical properties of the understory soil, and the Elaeagnus angustifolia Linn.had the best effect on that.Tamarix ramosissima and Mongol ramosissima have obvious improvement effects on soil chemical properties.(5)The combination evaluation method was used to comprehensively analyze the vegetation growth effect of different artificial shrubs, the diversity of undergrowth herbs and the physical and chemical properties of the soil.It was suggested that the shrubs such as tamarisks,Amorpha pseudoacinosa, and M.mongolicus should be planted on the gangue hill platform of Yangchangwan coal mine in Lingwu mining area of Ningxia.
