The agronomic and genetic characteristics of Elymus dahuricus,Hordeum brevisubulatum and their new hybrid lines Y33and P13were studied by field observation, physiological and biochemical methods and molecular markers. The main results were as follows:(1)the new hybrid lines had stable genetic characters, high production performance and shattering property were improved. The Phenophase of Y33and P13were inherited from the recurrent parent H.brevisubulatum, the growth rhythm was similar to that of H.brevisubulatum, and the seed drop rate was lower than that of the parent H.brevisubulatum.The average fresh grass yield of Y33and P13was higher than that of their parents, and the average hay yield of P13was the highest. There were significant differences in floret number per spikelet, leaf length and spikelet length between parents and new hybrid lines.(2)The new strains Y33and P13had higher dry matter content(about95%),higher crude protein content(17.21%and 17.36%),higher crude fat content(6.06%and 5.88%)than E.dahuricus, lower crude fiber, acid detergent fiber and neutral detergent fiber content than E.dahuricus;comparison of calcium and phosphorus balance between two parents;the nutritional value was improved and the feeding value was higher.(3)The salt tolerance of new hybrid lines Y33and P13were stronger than E.dahuricus, the drought resistance was stronger than H.brevisubulatum;drought resistance and salt tolerance were improved.(4)The results of ISSR and SSR analysis showed that the new hybrid lines were more likely to be inherited from recurrent parents, and the fingerprints constructed by the two markers could objectively and truly detect the genetic differences between parents and hybrid progenies, which could be used to identify wide hybrids of grasses.
