Wound healing is a very complicated process.Trauma can not only cause some changes in body parts,but also stimulate systemic symptoms with different degrees.The process of wound healing can be roughly divided into three stages:(1)inflammatory response,which mainly clears necrotic tissue and wound exudates.(2)Connective tissue cells and vascular endothelial cells migrate,proliferate and eventually produce granulation tissue.(3)Deposition of new connective tissue matrix and construction of new tissue.The three stages are interrelated and help each other,and each stage will be regulated by the body very accurately.There are many cells involved in the process of wound healing,and different cells secrete different factors.There are complex connections among cells,factors,or cells and factors,which are related to various aspects of cell movement,adhesion,communication,proliferation and differentiation.Because of the complexity of wound healing,a large number of molecules belonging to different kinds are needed to regulate the whole process,of which action mechanisms are different,and the biological effects are also different.In recent decades,with the development of cell and molecular biology,the research on wound healing has developed from the study on the morphology and biochemical changes of post-traumatic wounds to the study on the molecular mechanism.Recovery diet is a tube-feeding formula liquid developed for dogs and cats after operation,recovery from illness and postpartum,which is based on digestible and absorbed hydrolytic protein(including glutamine)and adds natural plant extracts such as ginseng,Astragalus propinquus,Angelica sinensis and wolfberry.Glutamine can rapidly provide high-energy nutrition when the body loses a lot of energy and blood after surgery and recovery from illness.Ginseng,Astragalus propinquus,Angelica sinensis and wolfberry can strengthen hematopoietic function,promote blood circulation,increase immune function and accelerate recovery.In this experiment,dogs and cats were used as the main experimental animals to study the effect of Recovery diet on the healing after operation.In this experiment,18 dogs and 24 cats were randomly divided into experimental group and control group.Among them,2 replicates were prepared for experimental group and 1 replicate was prepared for control group.The experimental animals underwent esophagectomy,and the blood which accounted for 1.5%of the body weight was collected after the operation to simulate the animal model that could not feed because of the blood loss after the operation.Body weight was measured 1-11 days after operation;wound photographs were taken;skin samples near the wound were collected;blood samples were collected to determine blood routine,the contents of serum interferon-α(IFN-α),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-1(IL1),interleukin-6(IL-6),transforming growth factor(TGF-β),platelet-derived growth factor(PDGF),basic fibroblast growth factor(FGF-2)and epidermal growth factor(EGF),so as to investigate the effect of Recovery diet on wound healing in dogs and cats.The results showed that the wound recovery of dogs and cats observed by the naked eyes in the experimental group and the wound recovery in the skin section under microscopy were better than those in the control group.After operation,the weight of dogs and cats in the experimental group and the control group decreased,but the difference between the two groups was not obvious.The erythrocyte of dogs and cats in the experimental group showed a downward trend 1-7 days after operation and a rebound 7-11 days after operation.The erythrocyte of dogs and cats in the control group showed a downward trend 1-11 days after operation,and the descending rate of dogs and cats in the experimental group was lower than that of the control group.The blood platelets of dogs and cats in the experimental group increased from 1-9 days after operation and decreased from 9-11 days after operation.The platelets of dogs and cats in the control group increased from 1 to 7 days after operation and decreased from 7-11 days after operation.The decrease of the platelets of dogs and cats in the experimental group was less than that of the control group.The white blood cells of dogs and cats decreased from 1-9 days after operation,and the descending rate of the experimental group was slightly higher than that of the control group.From 9-1 1 days,a trend of white blood cells occurred in cats.The results of other inflammatory factors in dogs showed that the levels of inflammatory interleukin-1 and tumor necrosis factor in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.01;P<0.05)3 days after operation.During the subsequently whole observation period,the content of inflammatory factors in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).On the 7th day after operation,the content of interleukin-6 in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05),and the content of interleukin-6 in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group throughout the subsequent observation period(P<0.05).On the 11th day after operation,the interferon content in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.01).The results of other other inflammatory factors in cats showed that the contents of interferon,tumor necrosis factor,interleukin-1 and interleukin-6 in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group on the 3th~7th day after the operation(P<0.01;P<0.05),but the contents of inflammatory factors in the experimental group increased throughout the subsequent observation period.The results of cell growth factors in dogs showed that the contents of epidermal growth factor and basic fibroblast growth factor in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group at the 7th day after operation(P<0.05),and the contents of cell growth factors in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group during the subsequently whole observation period(P<0.05).On the 11th day after operation,the contents of platelet-derived growth factor and transforming growth factor in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The results of cell growth factors in cats showed that there was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group 1-11 days after operation,without statistical significance.The results showed that Recovery diet could alleviate inflammatory response of wound tissue and accelerate wound healing.
