| Tang poetry is the treasure of Chinese culture which exhibits the beauty of Chinese words to a great extent.The abundant rhymes,versatile tunes,harmonious paces,insightful thoughts and the romantic feelings of Tang poems made it enjoy the worldwide fame and became the cultural heritage of the world.It’s our obligatory responsibility to inherit and develop such beauty of art to the world literature.Professor Xu Yuanchong is one of the representative translators in the translation of Tang poems whose works are of high literary value and be favored by the people from home and abroad.Through his vast translation practice and summary,he put forward a completely new theory,Three Beauties(Beauty of form,Beauty of sound and Beauty of meaning)creatively,which is a big innovation in the translation of Tang poems.In this thesis,the author adopts "Three Beauties" theory as the theoretical frame and analyzes the Tang poems from the perspective of the beauty of the form,sound and meaning concretely so as to achieve the best literature effect.Moreover,to make a better understanding of Chinese and western poems,the thesis deeply studies the difference of the Chinese and western poems and some practical techniques have been proposed to make the translation smoothly.Based on the "Three Beauties" theory,the thesis selects the four representative Tang poems----Climbing High by Dufu,Drinking Alone under the Moon by Li Bai,Yellow Crane Tower by Cui Hao,Stillness Audible by Wang Wei,analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of their different translation versions in the view of "Three Beauties"theory,and,offering suggestions for other Tang poems’ translation to promote the cross-cultural communication of Chinese and western cultures. |
